Corruption Free Nation: Illegal Parking charges at Thane East Railway station premises

This is to bring to your attention the illegal parking charges charged by M/S Shree Krishnlal S. Attkan at Thane East Railway station premises.

On 4^th March, 2012 (Sunday) I went to Thane Railway station. I parked my motor bike at the parking facility managed by M/S Shree Krishnlal S. Attkan at Thane (E). I was sure that I will be back within an hour and so asked the person sitting at the counter about parking charges for 1 hour. He informed me that it is Rs. 20. On the board above the counter it was mentioned Rs. 20 for 12 hours. So, I asked him why he is charging Rs. 20 for an hour when it is mentioned that Rs. 20 is for 12 hours. He replied stating that it is Rs. 20 for 1 hour too. I paid Rs. 20 and the receipt that he issued to me had Rs. 6 printed on it. He cancelled the Rs. 6 printed on the receipt using a pen and then using a rubber stamp printed Rs. 20 on it.

I feel this is illegal and I am sure that the Railway officials are hand in glove with them in this illegal business. Even a Shopping mall which is a commercial establishment, charges just Rs. 5 or Rs. 10 for parking a two wheeler and that too the duration is definitely more than 4 hours. For me it was just a one day affair but for someone who is parking the bike on a daily basis will suffer a huge loss due to such unfair parking charges charged by M/S Shree Krishnlal S. Attkan.
